New addition to the Primrose staff

Red the puppy

Billy the dogPlease join us in welcoming Red, the latest addition to the marketing team at Primrose.

He’s not the first four-legged companion around the office, but will be joining Billy who has been in the office for years.

Together they will fulfill their contractual duties of looking cute, lying in the way, lying by the printer so everyone walking past gives them attention, and glaring at anyone who dares to eat food in the office.

Catching squirrels and beating speed records!

Bamboo Stainless Steel Water Feature at PrimroseWe’ve had some brilliant reviews in the last couple of weeks, here are the funniest ones as chosen by the team.

Which is your favourite one?

Mini Mister Blue LED:

I love it, its going to make my Halloween cauldron look fabulous.

Advanced Spider Repellent – Whole House:

Usually have spiders that look like they are able to move the furniture around but have not seen any lately :)))

Brilliant ! For the first week after we plugged it in we had more spiders than we would usually have but obviously if these were already in the house the repellent is making them want to leave so we found them all by doors or windows and all were very dozy so were easy to dispose of !

Since that first week no spiders at all and I feel a lot happier and more confident knowing that we have this repellent . I have bought one for my daughter as well and recommended it to some of my friends who are also arachnophobes !

Squirrel and Mink Cage Trap:

Two squirrels are having an extended ‘holiday’ about a mile away, but they haven’t sent me a postcard yet!

Squirrel managed to eat the bait (bread coated in peanut butter) through the wire cage and then set off the trap by kicking the whole thing through 90 degrees!I have added extra wire mesh and secured the trap to the lawn with tent pegs – have not trapped anything yet. 16/10/2013

I gave a review on16th October regarding a squirrel trap supplied by Primrose. I mentioned that I had to make some modifications to the product but had not yet trapped a squirrel. I am delighted to report that since then two squirrels have been caught! 28/10/2013

Stainless Steel Bamboo Tubes Water Feature With LED Lights:

Clear step by step instructions would have made my rating excellent. Make a cup of tea look at where you are going to put the feature and think it through. You will need to drill a hole or two to make it fit together properly. Its worth noting that the transformer type light plug and control switch have to be kept dry at all times!!
Everyone that has seen it has loved it!!

PestBye Jet Spray Repeller:

We have found the ultra sound scarer normally works if not immediately then within a few days but recently we have been getting early morning visits from a stubborn cat who was defiant, that is until the Jet sprayer was deployed (——– WHOOSH jumped in the air and beat Usain Bolt’s time for 100 metres, not been back for over a week now!

Your suggestions on how to keep pets calm on Bonfire Night

Fireworks on Bonfire NightThis afternoon we asked for your suggestions on how to keep pets who are scared of fireworks calm on Bonfire Night. Here are the suggestions we’ve received from you on Facebook:

  • Roddy: With domestic animals we can keep them indoors, control the environment to some extent, and reassure them if they are frightened. The wild animals and birds must be terrified and its them I really feel for.
  • Freddie: If you act worried thinking that your pet’s will get stressed they will pick up on that and figure there is something to get stressed about. If you’re calm and ignore it they should learn from an early age to ignore it too. My cats sit at the window watching fireworks, they seem to enjoy them.
  • June: One of my dogs barks but the other doesn’t. Both Jack Russells. If TV is up loud enough to cover noise it should be okay because the fireworks are usually a distance away. Tried a Thundershirt on my dog but it didn’t really help.
  • June: Have put Thundershirt back on my dog and she has calmed down.
  • Jackie: Too late for today but a cd of firework or explosive noises may help them to get used to loud noises.
  • Anne: Play music fairly loud to mask some of the noise.
  • Frank: They should ban them why sill have them for it you try and do what he did to day they would put hi in nick and never be let out
  • Phil: Over the past week during various celebrations in the distance I’ve been trying to encourage my pup to accept the distant bangs, this he seems to be accepting, so hopefully during the next few nights he may accept what is going on, just in case we have got the radio and music on stand by ?
  • Monique: Pull the curtains turn the TV up and don’t let your pets see you worried, and off course make sure they can’t get out, keep your PETS safe………..

Some great suggestions – what tips do you have?

Digging the Dig-It Gnome

Magic Mirror GateHere at Primrose we love it when our customers take the time to leave us product reviews. And we love reading them even more – some of them are so witty and clever!

Here are our three favourites from the past week:

Magic Mirror Gate:

The mirror is amazing! We are constantly taking friends into the garden and watching their reactions to our new gate – they are always fooled at first.

The best though was our cat, who did a double-take when he spotted a ‘rival’, then tried to push through the half-open gate to investigate!

Mini Dig-it Garden GnomeWeed Wand Wizard:

Great little tool and extremely satisfying to hear the weeds scream and shrivel.

Mini Dig-it Garden Gnome:

How can you not dig the dig it gnome?
